Description– Rosemary essential oil is a real favourite with its warm, invigorating and refreshing scent. As well as its healing properties, it makes a good nerve tonic.
How to – It is excellent used in a burner to aid concentration. A useful tip is to add a couple of drops of Rosemary oil to a footbath to help ease tired feet.
Origin and main producers– originated from Persia, but now commercially grown mostly in Morocco, France, Spain and Tunisia.
Plant part used in extraction– flowering tops, leaves
Caution – do not use during pregnancy or if you suffer from high blood pressure or epilepsy.
Aromatic lore– Rosemary was popular with the Greeks and Romans who believed it symbolised love and death. As it is also associated with the mind and improving memory, garlands of rosemary were worn by ancient Greeks and Roman students taking exams.
