Lavender has a lovely pure scent and it is a traditional favourite with everyone. Interestingly, it was the ancient Romans who began the association of Lavender with freshness. The name ‘ lavender’ itself is derived from the Latin term lavare – meaning ‘to wash’.
This makes an inexpensive and fragrant spray which can add a subtle scent to your linen storage area at home. It is also very easy to make.
1 tsp Lavender oil
60 ml Vodka
750 ml water
Mix the ingredients together in a suitable spray bottle. Shake well before use and spray throughout the linen cupboard, or on sheets and towels after drying. Air the sheets and towels before storing.
Tip – You can also use this spray to lightly mist over your clothes before ironing. They say it helps banish stubborn creases.
